Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Apex Optimal LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares your information when you use SplootPrint. By using SplootPrint, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide:

  • Account information (email address, password, optional display name)
  • Pet information (name, species, breed, profile photo)
  • Photos you upload for portrait generation
  • Shipping address (name, street, city, state, postal code, country — only for physical print orders)
  • Payment information (we do not store card details — Stripe handles physical print payments, Apple/Google billing handles in-app purchases via RevenueCat)

Information Collected Automatically:

  • Usage data (features used, portraits generated, art styles selected)
  • Device information (device type, OS, app version)
  • Crash reports and error logs via Sentry (may include user ID and app state at time of crash)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Generate AI-powered portraits from your uploaded photos
  • Process and fulfill physical print orders
  • Send transactional emails (order confirmations, shipping updates, password resets)
  • Send marketing emails (product updates, feature announcements, special offers) — only if you opt in at signup or in Settings → Notifications. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email or by toggling Marketing Emails off in app settings.
  • Diagnose bugs and improve the app
  • Respond to support requests
  • Enforce our Terms of Service

We do not use your photos or pet information for advertising, and we do not sell your personal data to third parties.

3. How Your Photos Are Processed

When you submit a photo for portrait generation, it is:

  • Uploaded to secure cloud storage (Supabase, hosted on AWS)
  • Sent to OpenAI's DALL-E API to generate your portrait
  • Stored in your account

Your photos and portraits are tied to your account and stored behind unique, unguessable links that aren't publicly listed or searchable. They are never shared with other users, advertisers, or data brokers. You can delete portraits and their source photos at any time from within the app. We do not permit OpenAI to use your images to train their models under our API agreement.

4. Sharing Your Information

We share information only as necessary to provide our services:

  • Supabase — account data, pets, portraits, orders (database and storage)
  • OpenAI DALL-E — your uploaded pet photo (to generate portrait)
  • Stripe — order total, email (payment processing for physical prints)
  • Printify — shipping address, product details (to produce and ship prints)
  • RevenueCat — purchase history, subscription status (in-app purchase management)
  • Sentry — crash logs, user ID (bug diagnosis)

We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with advertisers or data brokers.

5. Data Storage and Security

Data is stored on Supabase infrastructure hosted in the United States (AWS us-east). Security measures include:

  • Row-level security so users can only access their own data
  • Encrypted transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Authentication tokens stored securely on device
  • Hashed passwords

How long we keep things. Your profile, pets, portraits, and uploaded photos stay until you delete them or delete your account. Print order records are kept for as long as tax and business record-keeping law requires, in anonymized form once your account is gone. Crash reports are kept for 90 days. Marketing preferences are kept until you change them or your account is deleted.

If something goes wrong. If a breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours of becoming aware of it where the law requires, and we will tell you directly and without undue delay if the breach is likely to put your rights at risk.

No method is 100% secure — we encourage strong, unique passwords.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You can:

  • Access your data and portraits within the app
  • Delete individual portraits and their source photos from within the app
  • Delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account, or by contacting hello@splootprint.com
  • Manage marketing email preferences in Settings → Notifications, or via the unsubscribe link in any marketing email
  • Opt out of crash reporting by contacting us
  • Update your profile within the app

What account deletion removes: Your profile, pets, generated portraits, and all photos you uploaded are permanently deleted. Your print order history is retained in anonymized form (no longer linked to your identity) so we can comply with tax and legal record-keeping obligations. Records of your purchase events are similarly retained for audit purposes with your identifier removed.

If you are in the EEA or the UK, the GDPR gives you the right to access your data, correct it, have it erased, restrict or object to how we use it, and receive it in a portable format. Our lawful bases are performance of our contract with you (making your portraits and fulfilling print orders), your consent (marketing email), and our legitimate interests (keeping the service secure and working). You can withdraw consent at any time, and you may complain to your local data protection authority.

If you are a California resident, the CCPA gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and why, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined, and we have not done so in the past 12 months. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

To exercise any right that you cannot complete in the app, email hello@splootprint.com. We respond within 30 days and may need to verify your identity first.

7. Children's Privacy

SplootPrint is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Contact us at hello@splootprint.com if you believe a child has created an account.

8. International Users

SplootPrint is operated from the United States, and our providers — Supabase, OpenAI, Stripe, RevenueCat, and Printify — process data there. If you use SplootPrint from the EEA or the UK, your information is transferred to the United States.

We rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, and the UK Addendum where it applies, as the legal basis for those transfers, together with the contractual protections our providers are bound by. We share only what a provider needs to do its job.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy and will notify you of material changes by email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
